Count's Crystal Quest — Gray Phoenix Farming Guide
The Count's Crystal quest at Blazing Temple lets you upgrade Transcendental accessories. You turn in Count's Crystal and Count's Gem (both dropped by Gray Phoenix) to NPC Epo. In return, you choose between two upgrade materials: Count's Wisdom or Count's Strength. Both are tradeable, so you can sell them if you do not need them yourself.
This quest has no level requirement. Any character can do it.
What You Need
To complete the quest one time, you need:
- Count's Crystal x100
- Count's Gem x100
Both items drop from Gray Phoenix (level 195) inside the Ring of Flames dungeon. You must use a Gray's Cane to summon Gray Phoenix in the blue boss area.
Step-by-Step
- Get a Sealed Champion's Challenge entry from NPC Folken's daily quest or from a Flame Temple's Treasure Box.
- Hand the entry to the Gatekeeper of Ring of Flames to enter the dungeon.
- Farm monsters in Area A or B to collect Gray's Cane.
- Enter the blue boss area and use Gray's Cane to summon Gray Phoenix.
- Kill Gray Phoenix and loot Count's Crystal and Count's Gem.
- Repeat until you have x100 of each.
- Talk to NPC Epo at the Blazing Temple entrance.
- Accept quest "Traces of the Count" and hand in 100 of each item.
- Choose your reward: Count's Wisdom or Count's Strength.

- Gray Phoenix drops both Count's Crystal and Count's Gem. You only need to farm this one boss.
- You need a new Gray's Cane each time you want to summon Gray Phoenix. Gray's Cane drops from monsters in Ring of Flames Area A and Area B.
- The quest is repeatable. You can do it as many times as you want, as long as you have the materials.
